Father screamed 'my boy is dead' after son, six, 'fell from kitchen window' of 15th floor flat

A father could be heard screaming 'my son is dead' after his five-year-old boy fell more than 150ft out of a kitchen window in a high-rise tower block, according to an eyewitness.

The Arsenal-loving youngster, named locally as Alam Makial, plunged from the 15th floor of Jacobs House on New City Road in Newham, east London, just after 6am.

Met Police detectives say the death is not being treated as suspicious - but council staff are trying to piece together how he fell amid claims that the windows on the tower block were 'not safe'.

Maryam Hadafow, the boy's auntie, told MailOnline: '[Alam] had got up before his parents and he fell from the kitchen window.

'Alam's father screamed for help shouting "My son, my son is dead".

'His mother had written emails about the windows and doors to the council five times and said this is not safe for my kids.'

Paying tribute to the five-year-old, Maryam added: 'He was a lovely, lovely boy. He was very sweet.'

Eyewitness JJ, who lives on the 12th floor, three floors below the flat where the boy fell from, told MailOnline: 'It was horrible. I felt so sorry for them. There was nothing that could be done.

'I heard the screaming and shouting and I thought it was someone we probably had a lot to drink because that happens a lot down here. '

He said a female paramedic was in tears when she realised the boy had passed away.'

Another witness, Uber driver Miah, 57, added: 'I am shocked and in disbelief.

'I was across the road from where the boy fell. I thought it was somebody who was drunk.

'It's happened in front of my house. I could see the ambulance people and the police and they were trying to help him.'

Scotland Yard is treating the death as 'unexpected' but no arrests have been made..

People who live in the 1960s 16-storey block, where flats can cost up to £200,000, have been left in 'utter shock' by the youngster's death and want answers about how it had happened.

Council staff are currently at the block of flats reassuring residents and trying to piece together what happened.
